BALTIMORE, Maryland (port of) Arrivals
INDEX for BUTLER and variations of the name 1820-1897 (soundex B346)
NARA film #M327, roll 8
Transcribed by Mary Sandler, 1999.

This index for Baltimore contains some names which may or may not be variations of Butler,
but they are included here in case these were some of the German Butlers. As Butler in
German is spelled with an umlaut u, the names below which are spelled Beutler, and others,
could in fact be phonectic spellings for the German pronunciation.

A number of the index cards listed passengers traveling with the main passenger on the
card, and those are listed below. However, there are some others who were on the same
ship but who were not listed together on the same index card, so a search of the date or
ship name would turn up those others who also may have been journeying together. A search
by ship name will easily turn up those who were on the same voyage.

A number of the index cards were marked "over", which could indicate that there may have
been additional information on the back of the index card, but the backs did not seem to
be filmed.

Columns are first name; age; gender if needed to identify; date of arrival; ship's name;
n for native of; r for last permanent residence; d for destination; comments, including
occupation, if recorded.
